Is buying a refurbished computer a good idea?
I’m often asked if buying a refurbished computer instead of a new one is a wise move, and I believe it is for several reasons:
1 – It saves you money. Opting for a refurb instead of a new PC can save you anywhere from 20% to 80% off of what it would cost you to buy a new computer.
2 – The quality and reliability of refurbished PCs are guaranteed by the manufacturer. Most computers aren’t returned because they are defective. They are actually returned due to either buyer remorse or the inability of the user to learn how to use it correctly.
3 – The systems that are indeed returned due to a real problem are repaired, cleaned, and thoroughly tested before being put up for re-sale. In fact, statistics show that your chance of receiving a defective refurbished unit is actually less than receiving a defective new one because of the extra stress tests the refurbs are subjected to.
4 – Refurbished computers often come with the same warranty protection as you’d get with a brand new one. This means if a problem does occur you’ll be “covered”, at least under the warranty period. Check the details on the sales page for the warranty info.
Tips for buying a refurbished PC
1 – Whenever possible, buy your refurb directly from either the manufacturer or a factory approved refurbishing company or from a large, reputable. For example, Phillitechno has tons of great deals on refurbished PCs. (#ad)
2 – Only buy a refurbished PC if the savings are at least 15%. Why? Because although refurbs are an outstanding value and they tend to work just as well as new units, they might come with small cosmetic blemishes such as scratches and minor dents.
Conclusion
If you shop carefully and do your homework, you can save money on your next computer purchase with virtually no risk. I have purchased a number of refurbished computer products in the past with no problems whatsoever, as have a number of my friends and acquaintances. Happy shopping!
